The information will aid the Jafza companies in seeking new opportunities for traditional exports and developing the non-traditional exports.
DEDC's recent seminar for Jafza manufacturers was held to raise awareness and facilitate exports of businesses based in Jafza by highlighting new initiatives that enhance the free zone's export opportunities. The seminar was addressed by Engr. Saed Al Awadi, Chief Executive Officer, DEDC and Ibrahim Al Janahi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Sales, Jafza
Jafza is considered as one of the most important factor of the trade growth of Dubai. Due to its complete facilities and services, Jafza plays a crucial role in increasing industry investments. The strategic location of the Jebel Ali Port and the construction of the Jebel Ali Airport will make Jafza the centre of export industry in the region," said Al Awadi.
"Based on latest economic data, Dubai's total exported commodities in 2007 have reached Dhs27.1bn, a 48% rise from 2006. A 124% increase in jewellery and an 88% for minerals have been observed for the same year. Additionally, there is a 63.56% increase as compared from 2006 for the major export markets,"
Al Awadi added.
DEDC will provide Jafza with its value-added services such as legal and regulatory advice on documentary procedures, advice on trade policies and strategic networking and partnership with international organisations. Additionally, the corporation will offer export insurance and feasibility studies and research to support the establishment of export-based industries.
"Jafza has established its position as the leading trading centre in the Middle East due to its robust re-exports activities between the east and the west. As one of the key links in government's trade promotion, Jafza is excellently positioned to boost export through Dubai. Our long-standing relationship with DEDC and our current joint initiative seeks to give further impetus to Dubai's exports and support its manufacturing sector. Moreover, it also lets us effectively provide our clients with up-to-date services and counsel on how to expand their trade horizons and productively diversify their businesses in emerging markets," Al Janahi explained.
Jafza will also enhance the effectiveness of exporters through DEDC's marketing assistance including business matching and market entry strategies; financial assistance; advice on trade policies and free trade agreements.
