Healthy blood is required for a number of different medical purposes, including treating patients in emergencies and for treating people who have cancer, thalassaemia, sickle cell, anemia and other illnesses or blood disorders; and some people require regular blood transfusions to live.

"There is no substitute for human blood, and healthy donors are the only source of blood for those that need it. We are therefore requesting that healthy residents of Dubai come and join in this noble cause by donating their blood, and encouraging their friends and families to participate. In donating blood, they can help to change- and even save lives," commented Dr. Lalit Uchil, Specialist Physician at Welcare Ambulatory Care Center.

A specially-equipped blood collection bus will be located at Welcare Hospital's main entrance on Tuesday 24th June between 09:00- 14:00 hrs, and can accommodate up to eight donors at a time. The mobile unit will be staffed by three technicians and two consulting doctors, who will assess the donor's eligibility, and will be ready to answer any questions or queries about the process. A valid ID will be required before donation.
