Foreign trade through Sharjah, the UAE's third largest emirate, jumped 47.5% to Dhs43.5bn ($11.8bn) last year, up from Dhs29.5bn in 2006, according to the Sharjah Economic Development Department. SEDD attributes this growth to increased imports and re-exports. Imports jumped 41.3% to Dhs26.7bn in 2007, up from Dh18.9bn in 2006.
