Abu-Ghazaleh warns advanced nations of restrictions placed on foreign investments

Under the patronage of H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée of Sweden and the Duchess of Västergötland and with the participation of the Swedish Prime Minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt and representatives of the leading key international firms, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) concluded its first World Business Summit on June 14, 2008.

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg) attended the ICC Executive Board Meeting, ICC Business Summit and the ICC World Council.

In his address, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh's outlined the challenges facing Intellectual Property (IP) protection in the world of IT, and drew a roadmap of what should be done to protect IP rights on the Internet and fields such as biotechnology, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics and others.

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh participated as well in the Summit Forum with the Director General of the World Trade Organization HE Pascal Lami, and shared his concerns towards the obstacles placed by the developed world towards the flow of foreign investments with the claim of protecting their strategic interest.

It is worth noting that Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh has held various chairmanships within the ICC in the past, and is currently a member of its Executive Board.
