Under this agreement, Tejari and Dubai Chamber will develop an exclusive B2B matchmaking service which will bring together business opportunities of all types between Dubai Chamber members and the global business community, through both innovative online and established delegation services.
HE Eng Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry said: "This move serves our vision of establishing Dubai as the gateway and information hub of global trade, by enhancing its competitive standing in the international business arena."
He added: "At Dubai Chamber it's our top priority to provide excellent services to all our stakeholders and this Strategic Co-operation Agreement with Tejari will enable businesses to better leverage e-procurement as a source of competitive advantage for Dubai. Through the use of advanced e-commerce technologies the local business community will be able to forge trade and investment relations with the rest of the world."
CEO of Tejari, Omar Hijazi said:
"This is a potent matchup between the two most powerful business facilitators of Dubai. By combining the online trading platform of Tejari with the business promotion platform of the Dubai Chamber, we have created an unbeatable capability to secure Dubai as a vital meeting point for international trade."
Hijazi added: "Through our dedicated e-ready training programmes, Tejari will ensure that all Dubai Chamber members have the necessary electronic commerce skills required to conduct international trading proficiently online, further boosting the Emirates' business community on a global level."
The strategic partnership is anticipated to significantly boost trade for Dubai, enabling the local business community to forge business, trade and investment relations with the rest of the world, whilst specialist online membership packages will be developed to allow overseas companies, not established in Dubai, to join the Chamber as e-members, providing them with direct access to Tejari's existing 180,000 member network.
As part of the joint venture, the custom-built online portal will enable members of the portal to showcase their companies in virtual showrooms, display their product catalogues, post trade leads, exchange e-business cards and send inquiries about trade opportunities and dialogue through a sophisticated messaging centre. Tejari will also offer community members e-readiness training specifically designed to provide members with the support they need to become 'e-ready'.
This, along with guidelines service to SMEs, including policy information on Dubai trade and procurement market research reports, will assist community members in making the most out of the custom-built online marketplace.
Tejari, the leading online B2B marketplace for emerging markets embodies the innovative spirit of Dubai. The company, launched by the Government of Dubai, is one of the most successful units of Dubai World, a holding company that is responsible for much of the emirate's phenomenal economic growth. The online trading portal helps facilitate trade between companies and geographies through the largest buyer network in the Middle East thereby ensuring that more and more businesses in the UAE and emerging markets are becoming "e-ready".
