Academic delegations visit ECSSR

The Emirates Center For Strategic Studies & Research (ECSSR) received H.E. Noura Al Suwaidi the Director of General Women Union, and Dr. Wadoda Badran, The General Director of Supreme Council of Women.

They were escorted by a delegation of 40 students who were participating in the "Arab and Foreign Youth Discussion on Women", which was organized by the General Women Union.

The delegation was introduced to the different departments of the Center. Following this, they visited the U.A.E Federation Library, which is the largest specialized library in the Emirates, with a collection of 200,000 titles and 1,000 journals and periodicals. It also visited the Media Department where it was briefed on its daily functions, which comprise daily monitoring of local and global events and issuing Akhbar Al-Sa'ah (News of the Hour).

H.E praised the great role of the ECSSR in supporting local issues that concerns the U.A.E in particular and the Arab community and the world in general. Calling for more cooperation between the Center and the General Women Union to support women in particular and the Emirates community in general.

The ECSSR has received students from American University in Washington and Sharjah, where they visited the different departments of the Center. The visit included U.A.E Federation Library which is specialized in politic, social and economy and visited the Media Department. The delegation was briefed about the Center's role in community services and scientific research plus training local employees & researchers.

The delegation was impressed by the modern technology used by the Center specially n the media monitoring room and the mechanisms used to support its scientific and research status on the local, regional and international level.

There is a continued interest of the ECSSR in raising the standards of organizing the different events including conferences to exchange ideas and information which are discussed in those conferences and other types of events which are organized or hosted by the Center.

At the end of the visit, the delegation showed their interest in organizing a conference in cooperation with the ECSSR because of the high standards and the organizational skills which the Center has.

The Center will organize a lecture entitled, " The Image of the Arabs in the Eyes of Africans "Nigeria's Case", to be delivered in Arabic by Dr. Al Kidr bin Abdul Baqi Mohammed, Director of The Nigerian Center of Arabic Research in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, at 07.30 PM on Monday, June 23, 2008.
