The awards recognize leading hedge fund managers across the industry. The awards ceremony was attended by hundreds of Europe's most talented hedge fund personnel at London's prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel.

In November 2007, Investcorp provided Stoneworks, a global macro manager based in London, with strategic, committed capital through the firm's Single Manager Platform. Investcorp designed this platform in 2005 to provide clients with access to experienced managers with emerging funds in the hedge fund industry.

Investcorp provides between $50 million and $100m in capital to the managers, along with risk oversight and access to Investcorp's global marketing teams. The platform currently comprises six managers across diverse investment strategies.

Stoneworks utilizes a global macro strategy, primarily based on macroeconomic principles, to establish long and short positions in various equities, fixed income securities, currencies, and futures instruments.

Ibrahim Gharghour and Deepak Gurnani, co-heads of hedge funds at Investcorp, both expressed their delight at receiving this industry recognition.

Ibrahim Gharghour said:

"We have always believed that Max Trautman and his team at Stoneworks are a very talented group of global macro investment professionals, and this award is a testament to their people, risk systems and processes."

Deepak Gurnani said: "Stoneworks' winning the Hedge Funds Review 'Best Newcomer' award demonstrates the international reach of the Single Manager Platform."

Hedge Funds Review, based in London, is one of the leading publications on the global hedge fund industry, and is widely read by industry leaders around the globe. Earlier in the year, Investcorp was also named Best Institutional Hedge Fund Manager at the Hedge Fund World Awards in Dubai.
