GE and Septech deploy innovative mobile water solutions
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, June 22 - 2008 at 10:27
- PRESS RELEASE
GE Water & Process Technologies and Septech - have announced a 20-year, multi-million Dollar agreement that will help the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman to meet their growing water needs.
Under the recently signed agreement, Septech, a water infrastructure and specialised engineering firm has purchased a fleet of rapidly deployable GE Mobile Water Treatment Systems (GE MWTS).
The Septech/GE MWTS will provide regional industrial, municipal and infrastructure customers with a portfolio of solutions capable of meeting virtually any water, wastewater and process water need.
"Whether it's an emergency, supplemental, or extended water treatment requirement, our mobile water systems deliver solutions that meet any clients needs," said Ralph Hadley, General Manager, Middle East and Africa for GE Water & Process Technologies.
"Our collaboration with Septech will grow our broad portfolio of solutions in the UAE and Oman, helping customers best maximise their water and energy resources," added Hadley.
The fleet, which will be owned by Septech and serviced by GE, are easily deployable; able to meet the most stringent regulatory requirements in the world; and operable independent of a power source.
Housed in a 40ft (12 meters) mobile container, the units are can treat brackish, salt and wastewater and produce up to 1,000 cubic meters (264,000 gallons) of pure water per day.
"Our objective is to capture a significant percentage of the total water and wastewater market across the MENA region valued at $183bn over the next five years," said Septech CEO David Heffernan.
"Serviced by a 24-hour, 7-day a week specialised support and deployment team, ensures rapid dispatch and delivery of the units, preventing businesses and construction from shutting down due to insufficient access to treated water. Continuing operations and bringing adequate water supplies to MENA is at the heart of Septech's new offering," continued Heffernan.
Septech is known and respected as a innovative water infrastructure and specialised engineering organisation throughout MENA and will operate the fleet in 3 major service patterns: emergency situations for immediate service of periods from 1 to 30 days; short-term scenarios ranging from 1 to 12 months; and medium term, remote/off the grid situations, which require bespoke solutions.
With the support of GE, Septech will offer complete end-to-end solutions to developer, contractor, power, chemical, hydrocarbon, general, microelectronic, pharmaceutical, mining and mineral processing, primary metals, food and beverage, commercial, institutional, medical, municipal and transportation industries.
With unexpected power and water shortage preventing many developers from proceeding with construction, at huge additional cost to the developer, Septech can now help immediately reduce the impact of water restrictions by eliminating costly construction downtime.
GE offers the world's largest fleet of mobile water treatment systems, providing rapid response for a full range of reverse osmosis, filtration, demineralization, softening, and deoxygenation treatment on demand.
Mobile water treatment is globally available for either emergency, supplemental, or extended term service.
