Sharjah Economic Development Department offers a host of services for businesswomen

The Sharjah Economic Development Department is aware of the important role women have in shaping the future for a progressive and productive society, and is actively involved in enabling them to realize their full potential as partners in the economic and social development of the emirate.

The Sharjah Economic Development Department SEDD is striving to provide the necessary support, encouragement and facilities for women to bring about their participation at all levels of economic developments. The SEDD's host of services for businesswomen includes simplifying procedure for issuing licenses and other documents, providing them with new investment channels, encouraging them and enhancing their investment abilities. These services intended to help women play a vital role in safeguarding the emirate's economic welfare.

H.E Ali Bin Salem Al Mahmoud, Sharjah Economic Development Department General Manager, said:

"Inspired by the vision of H.H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Department of Economic Development is committed to breaking down barriers for women and encouraging them to seize the existing business opportunities in different economic fields."

"We seek to create ideal investment climate for businesswomen and to help them make significant contribution to our thriving economy. We have recently opened a unit dedicated to offering superior services for businesswomen, and appointed highly qualified female graduates to run this unit and provide the help, consult, information and support for businesswomen. We have launched a license category for home-based economic activities. This type of license was highly appreciated by businesswomen,"


he added.

Al Mahmoud concluded by saying: "The department has entered partnerships with the concerned parties such as Sharjah Businesswomen Council and Ruwad Establishment to organize training courses and seminars aimed at raising awareness on the significant roles of women in productive societies and offering the necessary support for them to realize their full potential as productive partners in the sustainable economic development process".
