- PRESS RELEASE
The Children's Museum celebrated its first anniversary on June 21, 2008.
They were joined by Tonton and Juljul from "Hikayat Simsim", who performed an enjoyable show. The day also included an interactive performance by "Fun Science Mania", which dazzled the children with magic science tricks.
Considered the first of its kind in Jordan and the region, the Children's Museum has since its opening, successfully introduced the concept of education through play, in line with Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah's vision which she articulated during a visit to the museum, last year: "This museum is a home for children where they are able to share with their friends and peers in discovering, creating, and learning about the human body, nature, science and technology in support of the school educational system. The museum is also a tool for children to learn and relate to the Jordanian history and heritage, and strengthens their national sense of belonging."
The Children's Museum welcomed over 100 thousand visitors in its first year and is keen to welcome every child in Jordan in the coming years.
"Today has been a fun and exciting day for all of us here at the museum. We have reached our one year mark, and we are looking forward to the many years to come," said Nissreen Haram, Director of the museum.
"At the museum, we aim to provide our Jordanian children with a unique learning experience of education through play, and I'm looking forward to seeing each child's face light up with excitement upon entering the museum," and we would like to thank the greater amman municipality and leadership founding sponsors "Abdali Investment and Development Company, Al Ahli Bank, Al Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel, Emaar Properties, Zain, Gulf Finance House, Motorola Foundation, Nestle M.E." who generously supported The Children's Museum and made this vision come true. And special thanks to Aramex and Bank of Jordan for sponsoring CMJ birthday event, for she added.
During the event, the launch of the summer season and the Children's Museum's summer program, which is packed with fabulous camps and workshops specially designed for children of all ages, was announced.
