One of the main objectives of the contest is to enhance and promote students' educational and academic achievement to serve the community positively and keep it abreast with modern scientific progress. Effat College also aims to select the optimal candidates who exemplify Queen's Effat's vision of active leadership in the community and meet its standards of academic, social, personal, and professional excellence.
'The uneducated woman is the weakest link of society. This statement is a well-known saying of HRH Princess Effat Al-Thunayan, whose vision become reality through the unique educational experience that Effat College offered us,'
said Suzan Katamoura, one of Effat graduates whose undergraduate degree was fully sponsored by Sheikh Abdul Elah Kaki, when she was giving the valedictorian speech on the Graduation last month.
In her speech she also highlighted the added value that is brought to society by the generous grants of King Abdullah for higher education, when she expressed her gratitude for having a postgraduate scholarship to study for masters and PhD in Canada.
Full or partial scholarships of Effat College are provided by Effat College Board of Trustees, Al-Kaki Family, Ministry of Higher Education, Ms. Soad Al-Jaffali, Dr. Fawziah Al-Jaffali, Taher Group, Sheikh Hussein Ismail Shukri, King Faisal Foundation, Mother of His Royal Highness Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, Al-Olayan Group, Dallah Barakah, King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST), Nesma Holding CO.LTD, Zohair Fayez Partnership, Saudi Diyar Consultants, Haji Husein Alireza &Co.Ltd.
Applicants are required to sit for scholarship test and a personal interview. The tests are: Scholarship Essay, either in English or Arabic (based on preference), Math Test, Test of Written English (TWE ) to assess the student's competence in writing in English, and Oral Presentation to demonstrate an ability to present a given topic. Students applying for art majors (English & Translation, Early Childhood Education, and Psychology) will sit for a different test from those applying for science majors (Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Business Administration, and Architecture).
