UAE Ministry of Economy to conduct seminars and workshops on role of Technical Secretariat for Anti-Dumping

The UAE Ministry of Economy's (MoE) industrial sector has announced that it will be organizing two seminars and accompanying workshops on the role of the GCC Technical Secretariat for Anti-Dumping in Gulf industries under the patronage of UAE Minister of Economy H.E. Eng. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri.

The activities will be organized in cooperation with the GCC Technical Secretariat for Anti-Dumping Secretariat, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The first seminar and workshop will be held from June 29 to June 30, 2008 at the 13th floor of the DCCI building, while the second seminar and workshop will be held at the Conference Hall of Expo Centre Sharjah from July 1 to July 2, 2008.

The activities, which are open to the public, are intended to educate institutions, industrial and commercial organizations, authorities, and legal and economic consulting offices on the unified anti-dumping law in the Gulf.

H.E. Jamal Nasser Lootah, Executive Director of the MoE's industrial sector, explained:

'These seminars and workshops continue work started by the Ministry in Abu Dhabi to highlight the role of the Technical Secretariat of Anti-Dumping in addressing harmful practices in international trade. They will clarify compliance terms covering international trade practices and investigative procedures against cases of illegal practices in handling commodity supplies.'



The workshops will include a detailed explanation of the complaint forms filed against dumping, as well as practical examples and measurement techniques related to dumping and imports.
