ETA Star International signs KAHRAMAA contract for Dhs835m

ETA Star International, a member of the $5bn Dubai-based ETA Ascon Star Group, has bagged a prestigious contract valued at Dhs835m from the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) for Phase-VIII of the Power Transmission System expansion.

The scope of work involves Supply, Installation, Testing and Laying of High Voltage Electric Power Cables in various parts of Doha, Qatar.

The contract was recently signed by His Excellency Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, the Deputy Prime Minster and Minister of Energy & Industry, Qatar and Hameed Syed Salahuddin, Director of ETA Ascon Star Group.

ETA Star International secured the contract amidst tough competition from leading international players who had also participated in the tender.

A trustworthy EPC contractor in power, oil & gas, cement, steel and other fields, ETA Star International, which is ISO 9001 and 14000 accredited, has a solid track record in tackling complex projects, including extra high voltage cabling and special projects that incorporate complicated geometry.

It carries out specialized maintenance of desalination plants, erection and power plants, fabrication of mechanical structures and other major works. It has secured ASME A stamp and NBIC R stamp for H.P. welding jobs and electromechanical works.

The cabling division undertakes laying of cables of all ratings of up to 400KV. As of date, more than 13,000 kms of EHV cables and other cables have been laid in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and other countries by the company.

The company has been executing projects with highly qualified and experienced engineers accompanied by a 1,300-strong workforce.

The division has the most sophisticated design drawing, sourcing and site operation departments. It has procured a state-of-the-art HVAC kit, being the first company from private sector in the UAE to posses this equipment. The company has also started a state-of-the-art facility for a ready-mix concrete plant in Sharjah.

Besides KAHRAMAA, major clients of ETA Star International in the Government sector include ADWEA, DEWA, FEWA, SEWA, DCA and Dubal.

Clients in the private sector include Siemens, ABB, LS Cables, Taihan Cables, Nexans, Prysmian, Exysm Cables, Brugg and many others.
