- Kuwait: Thursday, June 26 - 2008 at 13:19
- PRESS RELEASE
Under the patronage of The Kuwait Ministry of Health, the Avenues hosted a health drive to create awareness of the risks associated with obesity.
In addition, specialist health practitioners offered shoppers free Body Mass Index tests, blood sugar tests, blood pressure and cholesterol check-ups, all key tests to assess levels of obesity.
Commenting on the campaign, Steve Bunce, Mall Director of The Avenues, said: "We believe in supporting the community we serve by taking an active interest in the social and health issues affecting them. Obesity is a condition that affects a large number of the Kuwaiti population, especially youngsters, and we were more than happy to launch this initiative and have this opportunity to create greater awareness regarding this subject."
Throughout the day, nutritionists and doctors were present at the Avenues to provide free consultation and educate people on how to fight obesity and lead a healthy lifestyle. Attractive themed t-shirts as well as palette of giveaways were also been distributed.
Avenues has actively supported a wide range of charitable, welfare and social causes in Kuwait, ranging from 'The Sweethearts Blood Donation awareness Campaign', to 'The Blooming for Life' flower event to raise funds towards realizing the UN Millennium Development Goals. It has also supported Mentor Arabia programmes in Kuwait on several occasions.
