Higher Colleges of Technology announces the 'Union National Bank Chair of Financial Services'

Union National Bank, a major financial services provider in the region, has signed an agreement with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in UAE, aimed at establishing the 'Union National Bank Chair of Financial Services' and developing a strong Emirati workforce.

The Agreement was signed by HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of Higher Colleges of Technology and Mohammad Nasr Abdeen, Chief Executive Officer.

Through the agreement, HCT will set up the 'Union National Bank Chair of Financial Services' fully sponsored by Union National Bank. 'Union National Bank is committed to harnessing local talent and Emiratisation is an integral part of our long-term strategy for the UAE,' said, Mohammad Nasr Abdeen Chief Executive Officer, Union National Bank.

'Our partnership with HCT supports UNB's aim to develop human resources in the UAE and create a dynamic national workforce.'

The Union National Bank Chair of Financial Services will champion programs across the HCT system and beyond. Working with other Chairs of Instruction, Academic Program Supervisors, and Banking and Business faculty from across the organization, the Union National Bank Chair of Financial Services will review, design, and develop state-of-the-art finance programs that meet the needs of students and industry. The Union National Bank Chair of Financial Services will promote best practices, monitor and improve academic standards, evaluate student performance, facilitate faculty development, and develop relationships across the system and in the community.

HCT students will undertake a range of initiatives including: specialised seminars and training programmes relevant to banking and finance; scholarships and sponsorships for continuing education; tours to various Union National projects and internships to build on-the-job skills.

'HCT has a mandate to develop the national workforce leveraging partnerships with business leaders such as UNB,'



stated Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor, Higher Colleges Technology.

'We believe this agreement will provide our students with a solid platform from which to launch successful careers and to potentially build their own businesses.'

The agreement with HCT is the latest in a series of steps Union National Bank has taken to provide employment and training opportunities to UAE nationals.
