International District Energy Association (IDEA) 99th Annual Conference and Trade Show
The event, which opened on 29 June at the Renaissance Orlando Resort at Sea World, Florida, will run until 2 July, and has brought together a host of global industry leaders to share insights on driving growth, innovation and profitability in district energy systems.
Empower is also scheduled to participate in a panel discussion at the conference titled 'You Can't Manage What You Can't Measure: Metering, Metrics and Key Management Issues'.
Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said:
"We are pleased to be part of the 99th Annual IDEA Conference and Trade Show, a high-profile event that offers a unique opportunity to highlight our expertise and exchange knowledge with other leaders in district energy.
"District cooling services significantly reduce energy costs and environmental impact while increasing efficiency, leading to substantial capital savings and sustainability."
Utility sub-metering is a system that allows a landlord, property management firm, condominium association, homeowners association, or other multi-tenant property to charge residents according to individually measured utility usage.
The metering of customer's chilled water consumption will utilize a device, which measures and records chilled water flow at the point of delivery.
Samer Khoudeir, Director of Sales & Marketing , Empower, said: "Prior to the practice of sub-metering, several landlords either included the utility cost with the rent or lease, or divided the utility usage among the tenants in some way, either equally by square footage or other means. Without a meter to measure individual usage, there is less incentive to conserve.
"Sub-metering for district cooling creates awareness of chilled water and energy conservation since the tenant will pay for individual usage alone. It will also help end users to monitor and control their energy consumption."
Empower currently offers sub metering and billing solutions at various developments in Dubai including Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Business Bay and International Media Production Zone (IMPZ).
MEED
