'mbc Persia' brings global movies to Farsi speaking movie enthusiasts

mbc Group announced the launch of 'mbc Persia' its newest Free-To-Air Satellite TV channel subtitled in Farsi.

The new movie channel starts broadcasting on the 9th of July 2008 at 1130 GMT / 1530 UAE and offers the best in global movies around the clock from a wide range of blockbusters of all genres such as comedy, action, drama, romance and others.

"Movies represent a universal language that transcends geographic boundaries," said Tim Riordan, Group TV Director, mbc Group. "We're all very excited about mbc Persia because it will be the first channel of its kind to schedule, package and subtitle this kind of premium content specifically for the Farsi speaking family audience."

mbc Persia transmits on both Nilesat and Arabsat, targeting the growing Farsi speaking community across the region, to offer them a wide range of movies for all ages and tastes.

"mbc Persia is a great new addition to our existing portfolio of leading brands, consistent with our commitment to bringing the best in global entertainment to the region," added Mazen Hayek, Group Director of Marketing, PR & Commercial, mbc Group.

mbc Persia is the most recent addition to mbc Group's portfolio of leading Free-To-Air Satellite TV channels and brands, which includes mbc1 (general family entertainment), mbc2 (24-hour movies), mbc3 (children's entertainment), mbc4 (entertainment for the new Arab women), mbc Action (action series and movies), and Al Arabiya (the 24-hour Arabic language news channel), in addition to other radio, online, print and production offerings.
