NBAD's Elite Banking department earns ISO 9001:2000 certification

National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD)'s Elite Banking department has been awarded ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Standards by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, one of the world's leading accreditation bodies.
"NBAD has won numerous excellence awards such as Middle East Excellence Award 2008, the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2007, the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award, Dubai Quality Award, the Middle East e-Banking Country Award, the outstanding use of IT in Financial Services Award, and excellence award for Best use of Technology from Banker Middle East. The pursuit of ISO 9000 certification by our bank departments is part of our plan for continuous improvement," said Mr. Saif Al Shehhi, Senior General Manager, Domestic Banking Division."
"Our intention to seek ISO certification was not driven by the need to acquire a piece of paper; it is instead driven by our desire for continuous improvement," he added.
"NBAD has a long-term commitment to continual improvement of all aspects of its services, systems and people to meet the expectations of our esteemed customers. We constantly benchmark our performance with local, regional and global competitors. Improvement can only be achieved through a continuous process of assessment, measurement, and review and ISO 9000 provides an ideal approach for this," Al Shehhi explained.
"During the last four years, NBAD's Elite Banking department has managed to attract more high net worth (HNW) customers in the UAE with its highly professional and rewarding services and products" said Mr. Saeed Husain Al Khourei, head of NBAD's Elite Banking department.
"The rapid growth of the banking and financial services sector in the UAE represents a challenge to the industry in general and our department particularly. We need to accelerate the development of products, raise standards, and diversify the services offered to VIP customers and envisage tailor-made solutions to meet the ever-expanding demands of high net worth customers and their banking and investment needs," he added.
"ISO 9000 is a frame work to ensure; first, the improved understanding of customers requirements, second, customer satisfaction through continual improvement, and third, to defect prevention and process improvement. Therefore, it helps Elite Banking department and the bank to ensure that business is conducted in an orderly and structured manner. It also ensures that time; money and other resources are utilized efficiently as well as effectively. A Quality Management System based on ISO 9001 has provided the Elite Banking Department a platform to offer a superior banking experience and service to VIP and high net worth customers of NBAD," Al Khouri explained.
The department's staff were trained, supported and facilitated by NBAD's Business Excellence Department in line with the bank's objective.
