Dubai Institute of Technology partners with the International Network for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises

Dubai Institute of Technology, the Science and Technology arm for TechnoPark and Economic Zones World, a new member of the International Network for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (INSME) has been selected as key co-organiser for the 2009 INSME Annual Meeting, to be held for the first time in Dubai.

The two parties, mandated to encourage technological development via entrepreneurship, will also nurture cooperation agreements between INSME members and companies within TechnoPark.

Speaking about TechnoPark's commitment to the SME community, Hamad Al Hashemi, Managing Director of TechnoPark, stated:

'We completely support INSME's efforts to act as a facilitator for innovation-led growth. A fundamental cornerstone of our activities is to aid the SME community and we have set up the Dubai Institute of Technology (DIT) to create a self-sustained environment within the park to support the development of new technologies, the establishment of high potential technology start-ups, and delivering relevant services to the private and public sectors.'



Hamad Al Hashemi added: 'As the only Middle Eastern member of INSME, we are proud and honoured to have been chosen to help organize the next Annual Meeting of the INSME Association in Dubai. This reflects the confidence that the international body has in TechnoPark and in the city of Dubai. We look forward to working with INSME to develop long-term sustainable initiatives that will step up activities of technology up-gradation and skill development in the region.'

The Rome-based INSME Association is engaged in stimulating trans-national cooperation and public-private partnership (PPP) in the field of innovation and technology transfer to SMEs. The INSME Association currently includes 80 Members from 5 continents: 18 governmental bodies, 14 International Organisations, 11 International NGOs and representatives of 37 networks and intermediaries acting in the field of innovation and technology transfer to SMEs.

From the 1st till 4th, July, Dr. Samir Hamrouni, Senior advisor Science and Technology will attend the V INSME Annual Meeting in China with a call to collaborate with the non profit association and to promote cross-border cooperation and public and private partnership in the field of innovation and technology transfer to small and medium sized enterprises.
