AMD appoints Emilio Ghilardi to head EMEA region

AMD announced the appointment of Emilio Ghilardi as senior vice president and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Ghilardi will report to Gustavo Arenas, AMD chief sales officer, and will have responsibility for all sales and marketing operations within EMEA. Ghilardi will start in his new role in mid-August, 2008.

"Emilio adds tremendous global sales and marketing leadership to AMD in EMEA which we expect to help strengthen and grow relationships with our end-user customers, OEMs and distribution partners," said Gustavo Arenas, AMD senior vice president and chief sales officer.

Ghilardi joins AMD from HP, where he most recently served as the vice president and general manager of HP's EMEA Consumer Business Unit, managing a multi-billion dollar business for consumer PCs and Imaging and Printing products. Previously, Emilio was the EMEA vice president and general manager of Commercial Hardware within the Imaging and Printing Group. Emilio also served as the vice president of Consumer PC Clients in EMEA.

AMD also announced that Alberto Macchi, corporate vice president of Sales and Marketing for EMEA, is leaving the company to pursue new opportunities.
