The one-month initiative targeting boys and girls will be held in a different emirate every week with a focus on challenging the kids into physical and intellectual fun-filled games and exercises such as fencing, fishing, chess and others.

The camps will run from 5 July till 31 July in Umm Al Quwain, Al Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Kalba. It is expected to attract more than 800 children whereby they will enjoy an array of activities that will identify with UAE old tradition, culture and UAE life style.

Ahmed Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Watani Programme, said:

'Summer camps are one of Watani's recreational tools organised yearly to provide a useful and enjoyable experience for children during school breaks. Children learn different skills in the fields of art, cooking, first aid while enhancing the team spirit development and national identity.'

Based on last year's success of Watani camps, a number of sports, educational, and entertainment activities focused on developing a better understanding of the UAE's cultural and social customs will be introduced to children. Watani will offer the participants the opportunity to discover aspects of the UAE heritage through a variety of activities ranging from religious traditions to marine and art activities. The camps will also reinforce the recycling concept whereby participants will be introduced to the different ways of re-using various types of waste.
