DM distributes annual bonus to employees

As per the Performance Management System of Dubai Government each employee, whose performance substantially exceeds expectations will get four basic salaries as annual bonus and 10% of the basic salary as percentage of merit increment.

Those who exceed expectations will get two basic salaries in addition to 7% of the basic salary as increment. In case of those who just meet expectations, they will get one basic salary as bonus and 5% of the basic salary as increment.

The Municipality has already started preparations to give away the allowances as per the directives of the Dubai Executive Council after receiving the performance evaluation of each employee from their respective departments.

Those who were aggrieved with the evaluation were given a chance to submit their complaints, which were studied by a special committee appointed by the Municipality. The committee made changes of the evaluations of 40 employees after studying their cases.

Currently the Municipality is preparing to apply the second phase of this system, by applying it in an ideal manner in 2008 based on the objective administration system on individuals as well as administrative units. This will be implemented based on planning, review, evaluation and rewards.

Dubai Government has formulated a Performance Management System with some prominent objectives to achieve government excellence by strengthening strategic directions, future perspectives and encouraging employees to perform better with high competency.

The Human Resources Department had explained the system to the employees by conducting workshops and seminars as well as internal awareness campaigns.
