Mr. Farid Mohammed Ahmed noted that the importance of statistical analysis is growing by the day in tune with the rapid technological progress and the introduction of cutting edge programmes to keep pace with the changing economic situation.

"The aim of statistical studies in this regard is to help plan, make projections and predictions for private as well as public sector projects. Such studies are extremely important and helpful as they rely on accurate information and data," he added.

Statistics Department's work, based on scientific methods, helps Dubai World in taking the right decision at the right time for its various projects. Apart from the Dubai World companies, the department provides the same benefits to all other business sectors, public or private, in order to formulate their future strategy. The department is adopting the latest electronic programmes and training its staff as part of its work upgrade. Statistics, as a science, has become an integral part of today's economic development. All feasibility studies depend on statistical information. Statistical indices and indicators are among the most important tools in crucial economic areas like fixing of prices and wages and knowing the general trends in savings, investments and consumption."
