- PRESS RELEASE
MobileWare has expanded its offerings to include solutions that leverage RFID technologies, especially for mobile applications in the enterprise.
The Conference, entitled: "RFID: The Time is Now", was opened by Eng. Atif Karrani, the founder and CEO of MobileWare and sponsors included some of the most powerful names in the industry: Microsoft, ARINC, Identec, Skyserve, Shipcom, Fujitsu, Motorola, and Desko.
It was more educational in presentation to help increase the overall awareness of RFID which is considered a "disruptor" in technology due to its capability to change a business and how it operates. The speakers included: John Shoemaker of Shipcom, who also acted as the master of ceremonies from Boston, USA; Robert McKinley, Abu Dhabi International Airport; Nathan Tolman, Cathexis, Dubai; Peter Linke, Identec, Austria; Greg Clawson, Time Domain, USA; Tareq Hasan, Motorola, Dubai; Andrew Price, IATA, Geneva; and Tony Chapman, ARINC, London.
MobileWare is promoting the use of both passive and active RFID technologies to leap-frog older technologies and provide more competitive solutions that deliver operational visibility, control and use of high value assets, and security.
With a history in delivery software and hardware for mobile applications in many industries, use of RFID is sweeping across nearly all industries from retail with garment tracking to cargo for container tracking to aviation with baggage tracking and tracing.
In the United States, RFID is an emerging market that has been gaining traction in such organizations as Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, the U.S. DOD, Las Vegas Airport, and in numerous companies that want to track and trace valuable assets, freight, vehicles, and even people.
RFID is a key technology in bringing a new level of visibility to supply chains and especially to ensure the security and integrity of product shipments.
Although quite proven, as it is used for electronic toll collection on the Sheikh Zayed Road by thousands of people each day, new applications make it particularly useful for many other high value applications that can dramatically affect an organization's effectiveness.
It is proven to lower costs, increase security and improve customer satisfaction.

About RFID
RFID stands for Radio-Frequency IDentification. The acronym refers to small electronic devices that consist of a small chip and an antenna. The chip typically is capable of carrying 2,000 bytes of data or less.
The RFID device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a magnetic strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card; it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just as a bar code or magnetic strip must be scanned to get the information, the RFID device must be scanned to retrieve the identifying information.
