Tanmia signs MoU with Ministry of Economy and Dubai Industrial Academy to maximise employment of Nationals in industrial sector

Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Ministry of Economy and Dubai Industrial Academy (DIA) that aims to maximise job opportunities for UAE Nationals in the country's industrial sector.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Sultan Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy, H.E. Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of Tanmia's Board of Trustees, and Rashed Al Ansari, Vice-President, Dubai Industrial City, parent company of Dubai Industrial Academy.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of a seminar on emiratisation organised by Tanmia in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Dubai Industrial Academy.

Titled, 'Challenges and Objectives in Industrial Sector', the seminar focused on the importance of emiratisation in this sector and the steps to be taken to achieve this objective.

Through the MoU, Tanmia expects to complement the efforts of the federal government to comprehensively develop National human resources, and aims to support the initiatives of the Ministry of Economy and DIA to maximise emiratisation in the industrial sector.

The three parties in this MoU will work closely to achieve common emiratisation goals and focus on areas of mutual interest.

"The industrial sector of the UAE holds tremendous employment potential for Nationals, and through this MoU with the Ministry of Economy and Dubai Industrial Academy, Tanmia is keen on fully exploring this potential. Our common emiratisation goals will help us work together and achieve our target of providing suitable employment to hundreds of Nationals in the UAE's booming industrial sector,"


said H.E. Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer.

Commenting on the MoU, H.E. Sultan Saeed Al Mansoori, said: "We believe that the Ministry of Economy has a crucial role to play in enabling employment of Nationals in the industrial sector as we have an in-depth understanding of the current requirements of the sector. We are committed to help Tanmia achieve its emiratisation goals by optimum utilization of our combined resources and ensuring that the UAE's industrial sector has a vast pool of skilled National manpower to choose from."

Rashed Al Ansari, Vice President of Dubai Industrial City, explained that the signing of this MoU conforms to the goals of Dubai industrial City as it aims at supporting the industrial sector in the emirate and boost the efforts to increase the numbers of UAE nationals working in this vital economic sector.

"The Dubai Industrial Academy will enhance and support the emiratisation plans within the industrial sector through he provision of training and industrial rehabilitation to UAE nationals as part of our goals to support the local community and to use the available experiences and resources to better serve investors while provide numerous job opportunities for UAE nationals so as to establish a national base and cadres of workers with adequate experience in the industrial sector," Al Ansari added.

Al Ansari further said: "We are a leading industrial destination who enjoys strong ties and relationships with many industrial companies and investors across the region, and we are aware of their employment requirements which in turns help us in using such information to serve our industrial clients as well as cooperate with them when it comes to the provision of adequate industrial training to our national youth to meet the actual job needs of these companies and secure a job that is suitable to both the UAE national and the company that is recruiting him."

According to the terms of the MoU, Tanmia will provide registration services, nomination for special training programs and career guidance for jobseekers, with an emphasis on the industrial sector.

Tanmia will also provide the Ministry of Economy and DIA complete access to its database of jobseekers to help them choose candidates, qualify them and find suitable jobs.

The employment authority will also coordinate with Dubai Industrial Academy to develop training programs aimed at building specific skills of National jobseekers that will make them ideally suited for the industrial sector.

In addition, a committee comprising representatives from Tanmia, Ministry of Economy and DIA will be formed to ensure the efficient implementation of the MoU.

Dubai Industrial Academy is a leading independent technical training centre offering advanced vocational hands-on training within the premises of Dubai Industrial City, one of the largest dedicated industrial parks in the region.

DIA offers training geared to support and contribute to the development of the industrial sector, offering practical and theoretical training programmes in the fields of engineering and manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemical, construction, industrial science, and other industrial sectors.

About Tanmia:

Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development & Employment Authority in the UAE, was established by a Presidential decree in November 1999, to address the imbalance in the labour market, due to excessive dependence on expatriate workforce. Tanmia is engaged in a coordinating role, between national job seekers and employers in the private and government sectors, to facilitate increased entry of nationals in the labour market.
