Workshop on the "the Environmental and Social Impacts of the Retail Industry Supply Chain"

Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Centre for Responsible Business continues their well-attended and successful workshop series to create Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) awareness and build capacity for businesses in Dubai and the UAE.

The trainings and seminars address key concepts in CSR while focusing on its strategic and practical application.

Now, Environmental and Social Impacts of Supply Chain on the Retail Industry, the one-and-a-half-day workshop to be held on July 21 and 22 will focus on building the business case for social and environmental best practices in retail supply chains and will cover what supply chain management means from a CSR perspective, what are the risks and opportunities, how companies are integrating sustainability issues into their supply chain management while reacting and adapting to pressures in the light of some examples of best practice in the sector.

The first day of the seminar on July 21 will deal with the major topics of Building the business case for social and environmental practices in supply chain, sustainable sourcing and supply chain monitoring: challenges and approaches while the following half-day workshop will focus on the topic of Supply Chain Logistics - Making Good Business Sense.

Dr Belaid Rettab, Senior Executive Director, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry said:

Corporate Social Responsibility is slowly emerging as a key concept amongst businesses in UAE. Challenges faced by the corporate sector in CSR presents an opportunity for change and the time is opportune for developing a
responsible business agenda that is tailored to the ground realities and culture of this country.

These workshops have been designed for directors and managers from the retail industry interested in implementing Corporate Social Responsibility and supply chain management in their companies.
