Al Tayer meets 700 RTA Parking Inspectors & Controllers, announces 25% of basic salary pay

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), hailed the huge efforts made by RTA Parking inspectors and Controllers in discharging their duties.

This is besides boosting the efforts to improve the profile of the RTA across the community, through their ongoing interaction with road users.

"The achievements made by the RTA in streamlining parking spaces to accommodate a larger number of road users and enable them avail these services goes down to the concerted efforts to implement RTA strategy; which aims in the first place to provide the community with the best services on offer,"


said Al Tayer in the extended gathering held with more than 700 Parking Inspectors & Controllers, in the presence of a number of CEOs, Departmental Directors and Section Managers in the RTA.

"RTA views Parking Controllers as RTA roaming ambassadors; combing roads & parking areas day and night. You reflect to us the extent of community satisfaction with the services rendered by the RTA. The job you are doing is as important as jobs carried out by your colleagues in other locations. You are carrying out your duties sometimes in extremely difficult conditions under the severe weather & road conditions, confronting other circumstances to discharge your duties.

"RTA is keen to provide a favourable atmosphere for Parking Controllers to do their jobs in appropriate conditions. RTA decided to pay Shift Allowance amounting to 25% of Basic Salary and pay instant rewards earned by employees in 2007 and 2008. As to regular increments, RTA are being paid to all Parking Controllers during this week.

"RTA formed a committee from RTA Corporate Support Services Sector to study extending the health insurance coverage of Parking Controllers to include skin & eye diseases as well as dental care, as they are constantly exposed to sunlight, dust and humidity. As an instant measure, RTA will pay medical treatment bills of any disease related to skin, eye and dental treatment of Parking Controllers, if any. Bills will be paid in cash following the approval of Parking Director. RTA will also issue three sets of jackets to each controller every 6 months along with 12 socks and a custom-made shoe for the comfort of Parking Controllers" said Al Tater.

The Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA further revealed that RTA will study developing guidelines to protect Parking Controllers from the insults to which they are exposed from the general public. He also called upon Parking Controllers to behave in a wise and patient manner with the users of parking spaces and prompted them to come up with concepts and suggestions to improve the quality of work and achieve customer satisfaction. "We cannot upgrade our business and services unless we take on board the feedback of those in daily and direct contact with the community; which is the final judge and witness of services and achievements delivered.

"All concepts & suggestions will be highly appreciated and RTA will take them into consideration in a positive manner. RTA views them as a tool to develop our work, uplift the level of services in the public interest, and realize the values & promote the corporate standing of the RTA" added Al Tayer. He pointed out that he directed the CEO of Traffic & Roads Agency to hold regular meetings with Parking Controllers to review their requirements and discuss all matters capable of enhancing the conduct of Parking Controllers.

RTA Parking Inspectors & Controllers expressed gratitude for holding this meeting and the resulting decisions. They reiterated that that they are keen to act in the best manner as RTA ambassadors in their workplaces.
