The CCSF was established in 2007 by Cairo-based private equity firm Citadel Capital. It grants full and partial scholarships annually to some of Egypt's brightest students wishing to continue their education at some of the world's most prestigious universities.
"The CCSF seeks to fulfill individual potential, but at a broader level the scholarship fund aims to educate candidates who will apply their talent, leadership and knowledge to Egypt's national development,"
said Nabil Elaraby, Chairman of the CCSF's Board of Trustees.
"The Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation offers deserving students with limited financial means the opportunity to realize their academic ambitions at the world's finest post-graduate programs, whatever their academic or professional interest."
The CCSF awarded scholarships to students from across Egypt—including Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Menufia, Ismailia, Asiut, and Aswan. 2008 scholarship award winners will attend the United States' Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia Universities; the United Kingdom's University of Oxford, Cambridge, University College London, London School of Economics, and the University of Glasgow; Sweden's Lund University; the University of Heidelberg in Germany; and ESADE Business School in Spain, among other world class institutions. Students are enrolled in diverse post-graduate programs ranging from the liberal arts, medicine, sciences to business, law and more.
Eligible candidates should possess strong academic credentials, and should be accepted at the University of Choice. Involvement in volunteer work through civic organizations or NGOs is considered an asset. Upon completion of the program, graduates must be committed to return to work in Egypt. The CCSF accepts applications starting from mid- January with a rolling deadline till the end of April each year.
