The appointment comes as part of the group's drive to further enhance the department's operations and service quality.
Mr. AlQaizi comes with a considerable wealth of administrative experience at various levels in Dubai World. He has been heading the Group Procurement and Contracts department since 2006, when DP World was established as the global port operation company. AlQaizi's leadership role expanded in 2007 when he took up the additional charges of General Administration and Corporate Stables.
Excellent leadership qualities have earned him the honour of graduating in the Dubai Leaders Programme, the highly respected initiative launched by Dubai World in partnership with Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Secretary General of Dubai World, congratulated Mr. Saeed AlQaizi on his new posting and said: 'Mr. AlQaizi has already proved his capability of providing efficient leadership in key positions. His skill in focusing on crucial matters and the ability to take the right decision at the right time are what qualify him for the job at hand. I am sure AlQaizi will give a new vigour to the Statistics Department's initiatives.'
Mr. AlQaizi expressed gratitude to Dubai World leadership for entrusting him with this new responsibility. He said: 'I am honoured to have been selected for this position. As the provider of vital information for Dubai World, Dubai, and the UAE's economic programmes, the Statistics Department has a major role to play. Our services are decisive for creating economic strategies, and I am committed to ensuring quality, and launch of new initiatives.'
Al Qaizi's appointment comes at a time when the Statistics Department is planning large-scale upgrades of its work by adopting latest digital technology to collect, store and disseminate end-to-end statistical information and analyses from the market. Its regular updates from all sectors of Dubai's trade has been helping the business community as well as decision makers, media and academics in keeping track of the changing trends in the market.
