- PRESS RELEASE
RTA is conducting a study to rationalize energy consumption in all its facilities and use other environment-friendly energy sources in order to preserve natural & environmental resources in the UAE.
"Through this study RTA is seeking to upgrade the quality of water tabs & lighting poles used to achieve further rationalization. Therefore, RTA staged Employee Educative Program and presented a film titled "The Bitter Reality" through which participants were acquainted with environmental risks and catastrophes resulting from misuse of energy sources, failure to preserve the environment, and the best ways to conserve these resources.
"The drive of the RTA to rationalize energy and use environment-friendly sources coincides with the International Environment Day Celebration. It marks RTA efforts to conserve the environment & public health, and promote sustainable environmental safety practices. To provide further support, RTA published flyers containing environmental information & guidelines of rationalization practices.
"The Committee also aims to convert all RTA premises and facilities into "Green Buildings". For this reason, specialized companies have been invited to engage in partnerships with the RTA to build a cleaner environment. RTA was keen to use environment-friendly sources in public buses fleet & taxis early on, and is now exploring the optimum practices to reduce consumption. A number of meetings were held with the DEWA to explore ways and means of rationalizing consumption.
"RTA is considering replacing the existing lighting cables by other environment-friendly ones. RTA is seeking to promote the awareness of employees and the public of the importance of saving energy, and provide them with added environmental information through RTA Magazine, Salama Magazine for kids, RTA portal and leaflets" added Al Hammadi.
