The Bahraini market benefits from substantial incoming tourists from Saudi Arabia through the causeway linking both countries. A massive expansion of Bahrain airport is currently underway and on completion of the first phase will raise capacity to 15 million passengers. In addition, it will increase the number of aircraft hangars and bridges to 73 compared to 21 airlines operating in 2006.

Also, Formula One Grand Prix has put Bahrain on the world map. The number of visitors to the country started soaring considerably after the launch of the F1 circuit.
