The programme, currently in its third year, is the only education initiative of its kind in the Middle East, providing undergraduate business administration and marketing students from several countries the unique opportunity of gaining intensive experience as interns working on the largest and most successful summer retail and entertainment event in the region.

The nine students including Rana Al Amoudi from Saudi Arabia, Abed Al Nasser Dahbour from Jordan, Stuart Dalmedo from the United Kingdom, Hani Dalloul from Qatar, Mazen Salameh from Lebanon, Hadia Saraya from Egypt, Hasna Sultan from Oman, Violla Bader from Kuwait, and Sana Hmoud from Bahrain arrived to Dubai and have since visited several in-mall activities and attractions that make DSS a truly unique summer spectacle. The visits also included Modhesh Fun City where the apprentices have been given a permanent office to work from on their final presentation which will include a complete audit on findings and creative ideas and contributions for the betterment of DSS 2009.

The Apprenticeship programme runs for a period of two weeks starting July 9-21 and will have students working closely with key DSS executives by learning from their vast experience in the fields of marketing, public relations, and event management and to further apply what they have been learning in the classroom to the real professional world.
