This remarkable achievement comes after two successive full year global sales records in 2006 and 2007.

At the end of June, sales of 5,384 vehicles were recorded across the Middle East and North Africa region which is a 25% increase as compared to the same period last year.

Land Rover's strategy of providing customers with a choice of products that are sophisticated, premium, technologically advanced and suitable for all driving expectations has proved to be a great success and has contributed to the growth of Land Rover brand in the region.

Leading the sales was the dynamic Range Rover Sport and the flagship, The Range Rover, which are both dominating the luxury SUV market. The Defender achieved impressive sales results across North Africa followed by the newly launched compact SUV, the Land Rover LR2 and the Land Rover LR3, the premium family SUV.

Marcelle Duncan, Regional Marketing Manager, Land Rover Middle East and North Africa, said, 'This is a great achievement and to accomplish this level of growth against a background of intense competition is testament to the strength and desirability of Land Rover vehicles.'

'It is great to see the brand going from strength to strength every year and these fantastic half-year sales figures demonstrate that, more than ever, customers want the breadth of capability that only a Land Rover can provide.'

Land Rover produces the world finest all terrain vehicles, has a strong presence in the region and has sustained its position at the forefront of the luxury SUV market. In 2007 record sales were achieved for a third successive year. Global sales increased 17.6% on the previous year and 226,395 cars were sold worldwide.

With the strongest product portfolio in the company's history, Land Rover is expected to captivate an even bigger share of the luxury SUV market at the end of 2008.
