The decision to delay the submission date for the prestigious award comes as a result of the large numbers of candidates wishing to apply for the QBWA.

So far the QBWA has held three workshops to familiarise participants with the application process and the selection criteria for the award. The lectures, conducted in Arabic and English, put emphasis on the importance of the attendees' business, professional and career achievements, leadership qualities, ability to coach and their contributions to the greater community.

Mrs Judith Barton, Director of The Development Partnership who lectures candidates on the selection criteria and application process said, "I am always available to assist those who need help to improve their applications if already completed or to help those who wish to fill out their QBWA applications for the first time. The last clinic on June 30th dealt with precisely such issues and was very successful. We invite all candidates who need help with their applications for the QBWA to attend the workshops or contact us."

Launched in December 2007 under the auspices of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Misnad, the QBWA is a partnership comprising the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), the Qatari Business Women Forum (QBWF) and Qatar Shell. The QBWA aims to identify and pay tribute to Qatari women who contribute to Qatar's society and economy through their significant professional or entrepreneurial achievements. The award will focus on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their fields.

"This award is a great first step for entrepreneurial and professional women in Qatar. It is very important for ladies who wish to raise their professional profile and advance their positions in society as business leaders," said Aisha Alfardan, Vice-Chairwoman of Qatari Business Women Forum.

Due to the increased demand for information and guidance on completing application forms for the QBWA, a fourth workshop is likely to be announced.
