Representing both the Lost Paradise of Dilmun as well as Sim Leisure Consultants, an international creative design practice with offices in Malaysia, Middle East and Europe offering theme park design & development, commercial and residential project theming services, Paul Blunt spoke of the development and start-up of parks in emerging markets, the many unforeseen and sometimes unusual circumstances that impact the constructing and opening of these parks, as well as the challenges that each project could potentially face and how to overcome such challenges.

"The challenge in making the water park appear effortlessly from the sand has, of course, not been effortless but rather has demanded a monumental effort from everyone involved," commented Paul Blunt when asked about the obstacles faced at the beginning stages of the Lost Paradise of Dilmun, "The vision, concept, design, theming and overall majesty of the project will ensure that the Park is a landmark development for Bahrain - the smallest of the GCC countries and yet the one with the largest water park!"

With over 20 years of specialised experience in the theme park industry, Paul Blunt has worked very closely with expert consultants to develop parks in up-and-coming markets. Not only was he involved in the design, construction, operation and management of over a dozen facilities all across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, but he is also the Director of Sim Leisure Consultants-Middle East Operations and the General Manager of Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park in Bahrain.

About the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park
Bahrain's $50m Lost Paradise of Dilmun, the Middle East's largest water theme park, opened in September 2007. Set in 77,000 square metres of desert oasis, Lost Paradise features 14 of the fastest, newest slides, pools and fountains. Taking its theme from Bahrain's rich cultural heritage (the Kingdom was the centre of the ancient Dilmun empire more than 5,000 years ago) Lost Paradise and the adjacent 5-star Banyan Tree Desert Spa and Resort are the first components in the $1.3bn Al Areen Development.
