Speaking at the launch, Mr. Omar Hindi, Marketing Director of SPS said: "PLEO has been received with unprecedented excitement across the world and it is set to revolutionize adults' & children's playtime everywhere. We are very happy to introduce this interactive robotic pet in Saudi Arabia as interacting with PLEO will enable children learn several new things."
PLEO weighs approximately 2 kilos and is the size of a cat. It comes packed with 2,000 moving parts, has 38 sensors that detect light, sound and motion, 6 processors capable of 6 million calculations per second, 14 motors, and is fully autonomous. This enables PLEO to walk, make noises and behave like a 'real' animal. PLEO also has a range of moods and behaviors, which allow its owners to create and nurture its own personality.
Revolutionary breakthrough
Developed by Ugobe, the robotic dinosaur pet, PLEO was launched in the United States last year and has already received rave reviews about its ability to "see, hear and feel." Behaving as if it is "alive", PLEO responds to humans by displaying highly believable motions of excitement, anger, happiness and sadness.
On activation, PLEO goes through the stages of hatchling, juvenile and adolescence, with different behaviors during each stage. PLEO is also designed to develop a unique personality of its own, depending on how the owner treats it.
