Abu Dhabi 2008 to launch art contests

The Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 'Abu Dhabi 2008' will include painting and photography contests, organizers of the event said.

A specialized judging committee will select one painting and one photograph that they deem as most beautiful work of art on the topics of hunting, equestrian and heritage at the Exhibition.

The contests are meant to highlight the important role played by painting and photography in contributing to environmental education, and documenting equestrian and falconry sports, which have strong roots in Arab civilization.

Abu Dhabi 2008, which is launched by the Emirates Falconers' Club is organized in association with Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, will be held from 8-11 October, 2008 at Abu Dhabi's National Exhibition Centre.

The Exhibition, sponsored by Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the UAE Falconry Club, aims to contribute to preserving Arab environment and heritage, in addition to promoting Abu Dhabi as a destination of ancient cultural heritage.
