Alwaan, a new CSR initiative from Abdali opens up a doorway to the disadvantaged youth

The newly launched initiative, 'Alwaan' by Abdali, comes as a joint venture between Abdali Psc and Relief International - Schools Online (RI-SOL) aiming to encourage education and community development in Jordan through a development scheme that builds on the facets of experience and human resources.

Relief International - Schools Online (RI-SOL) is an international NGO that encourages education and community development in Jordan since 2001. RI-SOL works primarily with disadvantaged youth, many of which have been deprived of hope in the future. In the past years, with the presence of RI-SOL in Jordan it has been very evident that youth are generally not actively engaged in their communities, and portray little participation in the social and political development process.

Since the launch of Abdali Psc's CSR program, Ru'yatuk, its focal concern to fuel a better Jordan has become overt through the recent efforts and contribution directed towards community needs on a distinct level. The Ru'yatuk CSR program was created by Abdali Psc to reach the Jordanian community through extending beyond the development of a new downtown, but rather by granting access to the Jordanian youth, the cornerstone of the future of Amman, to a better integration into the society they live in.

Ruyatuk's new endeavour is the "Alwaan'' by Abdali program, a development scheme that builds on the facets of experience and human resources. Together RI-SOL and Abdali Psc will tackle a segment of the youth aged from 12-30 years that are living in underprivileged areas of Amman namely, Wehdat, Jabal Naser, Ashrafieh, and Al Hashmi Al-Shamali.

The goal of this program is to engage this segment of Jordan's community to capitalize and participate in opportunities that they are not capable to reach with their limited resources and hence to open a doorway for a vibrant future. The young Jordanians will be granted the opportunity to participate and implement youth- led projects such as the 'design a community project' with a budget provided at hand. As a result this program will enable them to:
• Receive life skills and capacity building trainings
• Learn about their roles in their local communities
• Be familiar with team work and identify key concepts from their work
• Gain a better understanding of the needs of their society
• Learn the value of social cohesion
• Be able to communicate with higher representatives in the community

Jamal Itani, CEO of Abdali Psc stated:

Abdali's efforts will be guiding young men and women, from less fortunate backgrounds, to stir on the right path of fulfilling their visions and dreams and flourishing both their future and their counties."

The Alwaan project, introduced under the Abdali Ru'yatuk umbrella, will perform as a doorway to increasing employability, facilitating access to labour markets and enabling these youth to enhance and contribute to the development of their own community. Overall, the result from this experience will be a trickling effect that will be dispensed over to the rest of their society, when being looked upon as role models.
