- PRESS RELEASE
Ahli United Bank (Egypt) is sponsoring a performance of the longest running Broadway show in history, The Phantom of the Opera.
Featuring 120 students from the Modern Sciences and Arts University (MSA), the production of the musical is due to be staged at the Cairo Opera House and will run for a four day period between 20th and 23rd July.
A press conference was held at the Cairo Opera House today to launch the beginning of the campaign and honoring all the sponsors to this momentous event. Mr. Shafqat Anwar Deputy Chief Executive Officer & Chief General Manager - Finance, Risk, and Operations of Ahli United Bank (Egypt) has received a Certificate of Merit and Trophy on behalf of the bank. The certificate was a symbol of the bank's participation in promoting the efforts of contributing to the Egyptian educational community.
"The private sector has a crucial role to play in supporting governmental initiatives and reforms, such as the "contribute in building 100 schools" project. Ahli United Bank (Egypt) is very pleased to be in a position where it can support the government in its efforts to build prosperous communities consisting of well educated individuals," said James Goold, CEO and Managing Director of Ahli United Bank (Egypt).
In a venture which promotes cooperation between private sector businesses, NGO's and concerned individuals, the "contribute in building 100 schools" project invests in the refurbishment of schools in low-income areas, providing them with new equipment and introducing new management and teaching techniques to administrative and teaching staff. The first phase of the project saw such success that a second phase, which targets an additional 100 underprivileged schools in the Giza governorate, was launched earlier this year.
Through being a key sponsor of the musical, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, Ahli United Bank (Egypt) is encouraging the spirit and growth of creativity through education. The bank is also supporting education in the local community where it counts the most through having a positive impact on future Egyptians generations.
