Telecommunications Business Users Advisory Group held its sixth meeting of the year

The telecommunications Business Users Advisory Group (BAG) held its sixth meeting of the year earlier this month.

The meeting was chaired by the chairperson Mr. Ahmed bin Hindi, and discussed the recommendations and the decisions of the last meeting and the work needed to remove the barriers hindering the achievement of the Group's recommendations and decisions.

Among the topics discussed during the meeting was the need to develop a comprehensive plan to increase public awareness of the Group's activities and goals, through awareness programs, educational seminars and other means to attract the attention of the public and familiarize them with the objectives of the Group.

During the meeting, the Group discussed the idea of forming an independent association of business users of telecommunications services, and ways to benefit from the experience of the Communications Management Association in the United Kingdom.

The Group also discussed the quality of telecommunications services in Bahrain and how to improve them to the highest levels, in addition to working on improving the quality of customer services provided by the operators in the Kingdom. Attracting new members to the Business Users Advisory Group was was another subject discussed.

One of the other topics discussed during the meeting was the results of the strategic and retail market review conducted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and related topics.

Mr. Ahmed bin Hindi said:

"Our goal is to promote and support the interests of business users and work to voice their views and needs and implement them by holding such fruitful meetings with TRA."

It is worth noting that the Business Users Advisory Group is one of two advisory groups that are tasked to voice the views of residential and business users of telecommunications services. The advisory group is independent from TRA, and it works to provide recommendations and feedback to help TRA achieve its goals in protecting the interests of consumers of telecommunications services, and develop the Kingdom's economy, in accordance with the government policy for the telecommunications sector in Bahrain.
