"In the wake of consumers becoming more health conscious, Nestlé has specially researched and developed their adult powdered milk - NESVITA pro-Bones. The brand, formerly known as KLIM, improves on the heritage of the renowned formula, and now provides it in low fat and 0% fat powdered milk."

Karine Antoniades, Nutrition Specialist, Nestlé Middle East said.

The milk and dairy food group remains the best source of calcium, thanks to its composition, which facilitates absorption. Although calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, one needs to 'top up' levels on a daily basis to keep bones strong.

Nearly 99% of the mineral is found in the bones, also known as our calcium 'banks', and the remaining 1% is stored throughout the body where it assists in other important bodily functions such as muscle contraction and heart beat, supports the function of the nervous system and also plays a role in blood pressure regulation.

Without sufficient daily intake of calcium, the body is forced to absorb this mineral from the bones and prolonged calcium deficiency can weaken bones and, in some cases, leads to 'Osteoporosis'.

It's good to know that women aged 19-50 years of age typically require 1000mg of calcium per day to achieve their adequate intake (Dietary Reference Intakes, Food & Nutrition Board, Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences 2004).

Nutritionists advise that to achieve this it is best to vary one's diet, by combining both dairy and non-dairy products to cover the body's daily requirements for calcium.

It is recommended to consume the equivalent of 3 servings of milk and dairy per day (1 serving is equivalent to 300mg of Calcium), in addition to non-dairy, but calcium-rich foods, like sardines, spinach and soybeans.

However, by drinking just two glasses of NESVITA pro-Bones, one is able to cover the recommended daily allowance with ease.

The KLIM household name has a heritage within the Middle East for supporting a balanced diet, building strong and healthy bones along with its great taste, which NESVITA pro-Bones still ensures. Additionally, the formula has been improved in terms of the beneficial nutritional value for women's bones and their overall health.
