He said that the Moroccan government granted RJ 'the fifth freedom' right, of transporting passengers from Tunisia and Algiers to Morocco and vice versa. The move encourages the airline to continue conducting feasibility studies on flights between the two countries, provided it gets the 'fifth freedom' right, to carry passengers from Tunis, to which RJ operates three weekly flights.
Majali stressed that RJ's concern to reconnect Morocco and Jordan stems from the Jordanian government's keenness to boost relations between the two countries and develop commerce, exports and tourism, and serve the students and citizens of the two countries.
He said that the company is eager to put Casablanca back in its route network and expressed hope that Royal Jordanian and Royal Air Maroc will cooperate in serving the route through a code-sharing agreement or through any other formula that enables commercial cooperation.
The Moroccan capital was among the first cities that RJ connected with Amman through regular, direct operations between 1972 and 2005; that year the route was suspended purely for commercial reasons.
Majali's statements came during signing an air transport agreement on July 21, 2008 by the Jordanian and Moroccan governments during the Jordanian-Moroccan Higher Committee meetings convened in Amman.
