In an attempt to help facilitate hospital - media relations, the informal media lunch organized by Tawam, was three-fold; to provide a forum where media representatives had the opportunity to give their feedback, comments or recommendations on how to strengthen Tawam - Media relations, to discuss the Hospital's recent events and achievements and finally to update the media on up-coming events and activities in 2008 at Tawam.
Tawam is committed to raising public awareness about a wide range of diseases and providing information on prevention methods and treatment options said Mr. Michael E. Heindel, CEO of Tawam Hospital.
He added:
"Tawam's objective is to provide a platform for discussion and to continually expand its field of expertise. We are committed to the development of the UAE's healthcare sector through treatment, prevention and awareness campaigns. We understand the importance of working together with the media to provide up-to-date information on key health issues afflicting this country and look forward to developing Media - Tawam relations."
Commenting on the media lunch, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Brian de. Francesca said: "The media lunch was organized to stimulate feedback from our media partners across the UAE and to discuss current health issues. At Tawam, we are committed to working together with the Press for the benefit of our community's health and the UAE at large. In the health industry, media coverage about new developments, facilities and services are essential for educating the public about key health issues affecting this country and region."
Recent achievements by the hospital include; the arrival of a molecular imaging center at the hospital, the excellent results from the patient satisfaction survey, the implementation of Lean Methodology in the ER department, Tawam's recent achievement as the first hospital to receive the HACCP food safety certification and the successful bilateral chonal atresia surgery that saved the life of a newborn baby.
"Great strides have also been made by the Hospital to improve its services and facilities," said Mr. Heindel. He concluded by saying that: "The Hospital has won two Awards with Arab Health, has a new mammography unit and a newly established department 'Case Management,' that continues to make progress in providing an excellent service to patients.
The team has also conducted meetings, educational sessions with clinical staff in various areas across the hospital and in June 2008, Tawam saw the opening of the Well Man Clinic and Occupational Services at the Neima Clinic.
We are extremely pleased with the progress we have made so far but continue to push the boundaries to exceed the needs and expectations of our patients."
