LunaJets offers website for passengers and jet operators fill empty legs

Empty legs are flights returning home empty after dropping off a client.

By using the excess capacity created by empty legs or repositioning, LunaJets is to bring the business aviation industry new passengers who currently fly business class, first class on commercial airlines or the ex-Concorde class.
Eymerci Segard, CEO and co-founder of LunaJets said: 'For jet operators filling an empty leg is 100% profitable but they did not have the option until now to sell them directly and transparently to passengers, who in turn benefit from greatly discounted fare.

Jet operators can post their empty legs on www.lunajets.com and registered passengers can browse through the list and check prices and available routes.

'We calculated prices that are high enough to make it interesting for the jet operators and low enough for passengers to pay that extra premium to fly on private jets. They are calculated on flight time independent of the cabin size, which allows passengers to compare prices with commercial fares and discover the amazing value we offer', Segard added.

On www.lunajets.com, passengers find a list of empty legs within Europe, transatlantic, to and from Russia and the Middle East. LunaJets also offers passengers the option to purchase individual seats on a plane, and share with others, if the flight is shorter than 2 hours 30 minutes. For longer flights the whole cabin must be purchased. Passengers also receive email alerts on their favourite routes, so as soon as an empty leg is posted on LunaJets, interested parties know about it immediately.

LunaJets currently works with jet operators who have all their license and insurance certificates up-to-date and only use aircraft that are younger than 15 years including Elite Jets, Hadid international Services and Sky Aviation Services in UAE, Arab wings and Jordanian private jets in Jordan and Imperial jets in Lebanon.

Segard said: 'Even the Near East operators are helpful for Middle East destinations, as they may be willing to reroute their empty legs, in order to fill their flights with passengers. So we can easily ask a London-Amman flight to drop off a customer in Jeddah first. Or ask an aircraft in Dubai to pick up a passenger in Riyadh before flying to Europe. Empty legs are very flexible and we can accommodate them according to client's needs.'

Passengers can buy individual seats on flights shorter than 2h30min such as London to Paris or London to Geneva, or the whole cabin (8-14 passengers) for longer flights such as Dubai to Moscow or Dubai to London.
