Situated on the Moroccan coast, the 18-hole course will be a signature component of Qatari Diar's luxury development. This marks the first collaboration between these two celebrated golfers.

The Al Houara Golf Course has been designed as two returning nines with the 9th and 18th greens located below the clubhouse. The majority of the holes are situated on the eastern part of the site on a large slightly undulating plain. Five holes are located on the higher land that will play down to and then back from the sea, providing a majestic setting for players. Among those are the 12th, 13th and 14th holes, which will become the "signature" holes of the course. Golfers will play down to the dunes behind the beach while taking in breathtaking views of the sea.

"We are very excited to have two of the world's most successful golfers, Vijay Singh and Graham Marsh, designing such a beautiful golf course for us in Morocco," said Qatari Diar Deputy CEO Mr. Ahmed Al Mazroei. "Al Houara is very special to Qatari Diar and this new international golf course is just one of many attractions being created within this magnificent development to create a unique and glamorous travel experience for business travelers and tourists alike."

In addition to the 18-hole golf course, there will be a large driving range with adjacent practice green and chipping area. A short 9 hole par three course (pitch and putt course) is also envisaged on the southern side of the main entrance road.

Al Houara will be a $660m luxury tourist resort, spanning 234 hectares of coastal land. Certain to be a top tourist destination, Al Houara will draw visitors from Europe, The Middle East and North Africa.

In addition to the Al Houara Golf Course, the development will include the five-star Kempinski Al Houara Beach Resort and Spa, another five star hotel, a public beach club, residential apartments and villas, retail and entertainment as well as a residential club. There will also be a convention centre, club house, casino, forest stables and a variety of sports facilities.

Graham Marsh

Graham Marsh has achieved tremendous success since turning professional in 1969.

Having won over 60 tournaments internationally and successful on all five of the world's major tours, Graham has been one of Australia's most successful golfing ambassadors. Awarded the MBE (Member of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1984 in recognition of his services to golf, Graham was for six years Chairman of the PGA Tour of Australia. He has been instrumental in the introduction of a number of professional golf tournaments to the Australian Tour schedule.

Graham Marsh Golf Design was formed during the golf development boom days in 1986. Following a wave of success on the Japanese Tour in the 1980's and early 1990's, Marsh was commissioned by the Japanese development company, Daikyo, to design the Palm Meadows Golf Course on the Gold Coast. The course was an instant success and precursor to international standard golf resorts and developments in Australia such as Sanctuary Cove, Royal Pines, Paradise Palms, Laguna Keys and The Vines Resort.

Marsh quickly realised the opportunity to create a golf design company from Australia that rivaled the likes of those by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.

Bringing together a team of personnel experienced in land planning, civil engineering, landscaping, agronomy, construction and maintenance, Marsh surged forward with a string of successful developments in Australia, Japan, the Pacific Rim and more recently in Europe and the USA. His passion for golf design has never been quenched, striving constantly for betterment in design documentation and construction techniques.

Graham Marsh Golf Design is considered the leader in high-tech course design in Australia and is highly regarded worldwide.

Vijay Singh
There has been no more improbable success story in golf than that of Vijay Singh. His career began in his native Fiji Islands and has spanned the globe, culminating in major championships and victories in 16 countries that range from Malaysia, France, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Spain, Germany, England, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, Canada to the U.S.

Vijay, whose name means "victory" in Hindi, learned the game early on from his father, an airplane technician and golf instructor. Vijay credits Tom Weiskopf as his influence growing up, using the golfer's swing as an early model for his own. Vijay spent the early part of his golf career as a professional in Borneo, before turning pro in 1982 and joining the U.S. PGA TOUR in 1993. However, it wasn't until 2003, that Vijay's career began to take flight. The Fijian golfer was the highest money earner, as well as the Number 1 golfer in the world. In 2005 he was named as an inductee into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Known for his work ethic, commitment to excellence and long hours on the practice range, Singh has been a model of consistency throughout his career and continues to be a dominant force on the TOUR.
