Unique kayaking adventure in Madagascar for charity

  • PRESS RELEASE

Between October 9th and 18th, participants from across the Middle East are invited to join Gulf for Good on the Great Madagascar Kayak, a charity challenge that will raise funds to build and support a school for 50 children on the island of Kalakajour.

At present, the children on this remote Madagascan island do not have access to any formal education, so it's vital for the community that this schooling facility is built.

The paddling adventure will take keen enthusiasts sea kayaking in near-perfect, clear, turquoise water around parts of the mainland as well as Nosy Be and other spectacular northern islands.

Beginning in Nosy Be, challengers will paddle to a different island virtually every day and will even have the opportunity to meet the children that their funds will directly support.

G4G Co-Founder and Chairman, Brian Wilkie said:

"We always aim to incorporate a visit to the cause that challenger funds are supporting because this not only helps to build a connection with the cause, but it also shows our participants exactly whose lives they are transforming for the better. This will undoubtedly be a highlight of the challenge."

He added, "This is going to be a truly superb challenge, which anyone in good shape can take part in, but it's important that people wanting to do so start training now! Challengers will kayak up to a total of 100km, so building your upper body strength is key. No kayaking experience is necessary, as a limited number of training sessions will be held. G4G challenges are not holidays so you do need to consider that you will not be getting 5-star facilities - although we expect that you'll have a 5-star experience!"

Challengers on Gulf for Good charity challenges must raise a minimum amount of sponsorship in order to take part. In the case of the Great Madagascar Kayak, this amount is Dhs17,000 plus Dhs1,850 non-refundable registration fee. A major objective of this charity challenge is to bring together people of all backgrounds to push their own limits whilst raising money for a very worthy cause. If you are relatively fit, 18 years or over and are willing to dedicate some of your time to raise money for the children of Kalakajour, Gulf for Good wants to hear from you.

Rated at a tough fitness level and accompanied by a local team of experienced guides and safety boats, participants on this charity challenge will be able to truly test their limits whilst experiencing and exploring an untouched part of tropical Africa in the company of like-minded individuals. Places are limited to 25 and a number of people have already expressed interest, so register today to avoid disappointment.
