"Through these visits, we are endeavouring to get the message of Marine Agency across i.e. to showcase the Agency as a provider of marine mass transit services through diversified modes; such as rowing abras, motorized abras, Water Bus, and shortly the Water Taxi & Ferry Dubai. All of these modes share a common objective of providing mass transit services in a bid to ease traffic congestion and tailbacks in Dubai,"
he added.
These visits also aim to explore the importance of water transport for marine mass transit services to community members; which started to have a considerable share in Dubai water transport. Marine transport is increasingly becoming a key player in easing traffic jams, and acting as an alternative transport system capable of ensuring speedy access to all locations. Moreover, commuters will have enjoyable time through the tourist cruise by the waterbus (tourist route) across Dubai Creek.
RTA Marine Agency is working through Water Transport Awareness & Promotion Team to disseminate the awareness of the Water Bus among all community members and various age groups in Dubai and other emirates. It is high time to acquaint these peoples with the diverse marine transport service offered by the RTA, which is bound to play an important role in the near future of Dubai City. This is particularly relevant when considering the booming property growth in Dubai, and the huge marine urban communities; such as the Palm Islands, The World and other giant projects.
During the visit a presentation was made to brief the visitors on the Water Bus as well as Water Transport lines, stations and working hours. It also covered the strategic vision of the RTA calling for enhancing the role of water transport service as an alternative transit mode, which is bound to have a substantial contribution in easing traffic congestion. During the visit there was also discussion of plans undertaken by the Agency to upgrade the caliber of services delivered through the Water Transport Service" said Al Saffar said in a concluding remark.
The visiting delegation was received by Mohammed Al Bastaki, Director of Design at Marine Projects Dep't, Ahmed bin Musa Al Naseeri, head of Water Transport Awareness & Promotion Team, and Al Fatih Salah Uddin, Supervisor of Operation & Performance Dep't at the Marine Agency.
