In cooperation with the Abu Dhabi based Takatof volunteers program, Al Qasba Big House of Fun currently has 15 young volunteers participating in the family social event.

With an insight to provide the younger generation with unique opportunities to participate in the vast array of year round events and gain invaluable experience at different levels, Al Qasba's volunteer recruitment program is tailored to be one of its many contributions towards society.

The volunteers participating at the Big House of Fun this summer come from a cross section of nationalities and age groups, and appreciate this opportunity provided to them. 22 year old Asma Chooka, who supervises the cinema corner for instance, considers voluntary participation in such social events a point in her resume.

"I Majored in Media sciences and I love to participate in volunteering work, humanitarian and social events,"

says Chooka.

"These voluntary openings help me enhance my abilities and skills and will no doubt assist me in my future career. And besides, it's great to work with kids," she adds.

Voluntary work during the summer months is also a great way to help young adults and teenagers channel their time and energy into doing something useful as the Saeed twins found out. 14 year olds UAE nationals Saeed and Rashid Saeed decided to participate in the "Takatof" Volunteering program when they received an SMS from the program.

"We are regular visitors to Al Qasba and thought it would be a great idea to volunteer at the Big House of Fun to make the best out of our time, do something useful and at the same time enjoy a bit of the Al Qasba ambience," say the twins.

Saeed volunteers in the Big House of Fun taking care of the children's area, supervising the entrance and coordinating with the supervisors in that area, while Rashid keeps visitors posted on Al Qasba events and programs in the Big House of Fun and distributes flyers and balloons.

Volunteer work at Al Qasba not only helps the youngsters gain experience, but also exposes them to a wide cross section of nationalities, says Alia Al Raesi another UAE national.

"I am new at participating in volunteer work, and it's really a great opportunity to mingle with and get to know people from so many nationalities and cultural backgrounds. I am sure such exposure will help me define my personality in a positive light," says Al Raesi.

The Al Qasba Big House of Fun presents a unique array of summer activities for children and families. The summer program will continue until August 23 from 5pm to midnight daily. The event is sponsored by Etisalat and Nasser Bin Abdulatif Al Serkal Est.- Bridgestone will continue until August 23 from 5pm to mid daily.
