This educational event is organized by the Marine Sciences Station in Aqaba, a science project associated with the Jordan University and Yarmouk University. Held in collaboration with the Senckenberg Research Institute of Germany, this conference will be hosted on the Jordan University campus between October 20, and October 23, 2008.

Conference deliberations are to tackle ongoing studies regarding biodiversity in the Middle East. Set to entice a wide database of listeners and learners from the conferees, the event will also look into the status of education and scientific research relevant to the biodiversity field. From another angle, the event will also provide an effective platform for collaborations between scientists of the Middle East Region, Europe and other areas around the globe. It will also specify priorities for scientific research and educational opportunities, and it will also look into converting available research results into practical investigations meant to manage and preserve the biodiversity discipline.

CEO and General Manager of JCBank, H.E. Dr. Jawad Al Hadid said:

"We at this financial institution will continue our mission for supporting different social initiatives including scientific research. Through such undertakings, we strive to be of service to the Jordanian community and to enhance the Kingdom's social standing. Our policy at JCBank has always been to play a proactive role in the development of the community , as we believe that such interactions with the private sector will further Jordan's development while preserving its natural resources."

Biodiversity is defined as "the study of variability among living organisms from all sources. Such studies encompass organisms living in terrestrial and marine ecosystems and aquacultures. The protection of biodiversity is maintained, through the protection of biological environments, natural habitats and species. The protection of organic habitats and plant life holds great actual or potential value for humanity, as it has been proved that the diversity of organisms is important for the sustainability of ecosystems and environmental, social, economic, scientific and cultural surroundings."

Sustaining the power of biodiversity requires the preservation of species that can survive. To ensure the success of this goal, work needs to be done on revitalizing species able to survive within their natural environment. Such species can be preserved within their ecosystems and natural habitats, or in oceans that hold evolving environments stimulated through domestication or seabed planting. Such plantings comprise the evolving of species using the influence of humans so that the needs of these species are met. Biodiversity has been endangered due to the detrimental activities of humans, such activities are said to affect the human access to food and natural medicine supplies in the future.
