  • PRESS RELEASE

The Sharjah Museums Department is delighted to announce extended opening hours, as well as a day especially dedicated for families, at the new Aquarium situated in the Al Khan district of Sharjah.

More than 100,000 visitors have already discovered the joys of the UAE's rich and diverse marine life since the opening of the Aquarium by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in June this year.

A trip to the Sharjah Aquarium is fantastic fun for all the family and a highlight of your journey is the undersea walk through the Arabian Gulf tunnel where you can peer skywards to see the fish above you in six meters of seawater.

Ann Irish, the newly appointed Operations Manager says:
"I am delighted to be here at such an exciting time in the development of the two new attractions for the Sharjah Museums Department. The Aquarium has been such a huge success exceeding all expectations. By popular request we are more than happy to open additional hours, and to cater for specific needs, such as a family only day. I look forward to welcoming all visitors to the Aquarium, and also to the Maritime Museum when it opens later in the year."

Also take a break in the cafeteria situated on the first floor for tea, coffee, a cool drink and a snack. Rest awhile and admire the breathtaking view over the Al Khan Lagoon. Also visit the gift shop on the ground floor for that special souvenir - there are cuddly toys, books, postcards, jewellery, games, shells and novelties.
